What Are Your New Year's Intentions?

I’m going to share my business intentions for 2026 knowing full well there’s as much chance for failure as there is for success.

But the more specific the ask, the easier it is for people to make a decision.

Running a business is hard.

  • I’ve been doing it since 2007.

  • But I’m not asking for your pity, rather your support.

  • You see, in the past 5 years ALL my clients have come through LinkedIn or referrals.

My marketing efforts have failed.

People who hired me found me when they were searching for a solution (aka inbound marketing).

But it’s deeper than that.

I give ALL credit to God because he brought me business (not me).

And with that intro here is my target for this year 🎯

Mid market/growth stage companies.

I’ll go more into who that is later, but the person I am writing to is (new) managers.

Regardless the industry, people managers exist.

Where there are people, communication, performance and leadership issues will arise.

So if you’re new to leadership, this newsletter is for you.

Does that mean if you’re a seasoned leader the content will not apply?

No, not necessarily.

In fact, if you’re a leader who cares about constantly growing, then there’s always room for improvement right?

My goal is to speak to you like I’m having a conversation.

As a speaker, I describe my style as brief, conversational and practical.

That’s what you’ll get in your inbox from me.

I’ve been fortunate to be in leadership roles from a young age, both volunteer and paid positions.

Whether compensated or not, my leadership style has always been the same: to serve.

If you’re wondering where I get my leadership foundation from, it’s Jesus.

Now I’m not here to preach to you and I realize that not everyone reading this will share my values.

But that’s okay.

I just want to be transparent.

It can be scary to narrow down your audience, but I believe it’s necessary in order to captivate the right type of customers.

Those who try to reach everybody end up attaining nobody.

Back to the mid market/growth stage companies.

Simply put here are some descriptors:

  • 200 - 500 employees

  • ~ 50M in annual revenue

  • Proven business model & interested in attracting buyers/investors

  • Pain point: issues scaling leadership & operational efficiencies

Now you may be wondering why I’m putting this out there…

Because based on past client data, this is the pattern I’m seeing.

That doesn’t mean if your company is smaller or larger I can’t help.

But I do specialize and enjoy training leaders and evaluating systems.

So there it is.

My content has always been geared toward managers/leaders (hence the name “Manage Better”).

Yet I believe the size of the company helps condense the type of client I serve.

  • Let me say 95% of my work is done remotely, so location is not an issue.

  • If I can travel to you (a reasonable distance from me) I’ll consider it.

There’s nothing like in-person training, but I’ve spoken enough online so the quality of virtual presentations are very similar.

So if you’re a mid market/growth company needed help with scaling leadership or operational issues respond to me this post.

And what would really help support me is passing this on to someone who you think will benefit from better communication, optimal performance and effective leadership.

Thanks for hearing me out and God Bless as we get 2026 underway!
